The Beatles’ famous Abbey Road album cover has been recreated on the Solent in Southampton.
It’s been 55 years since John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison walked across the zebra crossing outside EMI Studios on Abbey Road.
To mark the anniversary, the Southampton International Boat Show has recreated the album cover, with members from a Beatles tribute band mimicking the celebrated walk on a giant stand-up paddleboard, with the marina boats giving the impression of the north London road.
The stunt was in advance of this year’s Boat Show – which will also celebrate its 55th anniversary.

It opens in Mayflower Park on Friday, September 13, and runs until Sunday, September 22, 2024, celebrating all things marine.
For fans of the Beatles, ‘Beatles Dub Club’ – a magical mystery DJ set consisting of covers, remixes and tracks from the best-selling band in history – will be taking to the Shipyard stage across five days from Friday, September 13.
The DJ set is part of a star-studded line-up headlined by Chris Moyles and Ibiza Symphony.
As Britain’s largest boating and water sports festival, the show will cater to everyone—from seasoned sailors to first-time explorers.
