A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being found in the middle of a motorway.
Emergency services were called shortly before 2.30pm on Friday to reports of a seriously injured man on the carriageway of the M3 northbound.
The man, in his 30s, is believed to have been involved in a suspected hit and run where a vehicle fled the scene.
He was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Commenting on the Daily Echo Facebook page, Kerry Foster said: “I hope the guy pulls through.”
Jackie Parker added: “I just hope everyone involved is ok.”
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary closed the carriageway between junction 12 at Chandler’s Ford and junction 11 at Winchester to deal with the incident.

The force is now urging for anyone with information or dash cam footage to come forward.
A spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following what is believed to be a serious collision on the M3.
“Police were called at 2.21pm on Friday, August 30 to a report of man found seriously injured in the northbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 11.
“At this early stage of the investigation it is believed he may have been involved in a collision with a vehicle which did not stop at the scene.
“The injured man, aged in his 30s, has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
“The northbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 11 remains closed at this time while emergency services deal with the scene of the incident.”
Queues of traffic tailed back from Winchester and down the M3 towards Eastleigh, tailing back on the M27 eastbound at Ower.
Motorists faced delays of around 40 minutes while the incident was ongoing.
Police reopened two lanes of the M3 northbound between junctions 12 and 11 after 5pm.
However, one lane remains closed, causing heavy delays on the motorway and surrounding roads.
