Glass bottle banks are due to be scrapped across Eastleigh in a bid to crack down on fly-tipping.
Eastleigh residents are being encouraged to use kerbside glass collections as bottle banks are being removed across the borough.
The move comes after a number of recurring issues at bring bank sites such as fly-tipping, vandalism, litter, misuse and contamination.
Now the authority is reminding residents that bottles and jars can only be emptied from council glass recycling boxes and these should not be overfilled.
Cabinet lead for environment Cllr Rupert Kyrle said, “Our fortnightly glass collection service provides residents with an easy convenient and regular way to recycle their glass bottles and jars.
“Removing the glass bottle banks will help reduce the council’s carbon footprint, safeguard the local amenity and encourage residents to use our glass recycling service.”

In 2021, the council increased its glass collection to fortnightly from one in four weeks.
The bottle banks will be removed from September 9.
A council spokesperson added: “Residents that need an extra glass box can request an additional one free of charge from the council’s website.”
