A Hampshire nursery has been given a green flag award for the second year in a row.
Bright Horizons Fair Oak Nursery, in Eastleigh, received the Eco-School's Green Flag award for their dedication to teaching children about the planet and its future.
The nursery is guided by the Eco-School's seven-step framework, constantly finding new ways to help children understand and protect their surroundings.
Clare, nursery manager at Fair Oak, said: "I’m so proud that we’ve achieved our Green Flag award for the second year running.
"The children are very young, but they love learning about all the ways to recycle at home and in the nursery.
"I feel passionately that if the team continues to do our part to educate future generations, then we can make the world a better place."
The nursery's efforts extend beyond the premises.
Children engage in litter picking in the community and participate in walk and cycle to nursery initiatives.
Inside the nursery, they learn about the importance of energy conservation and the recycling of toys.
Recently, the children constructed a life-sized igloo using milk cartons collected throughout the week.
The creative project culminated in a fun dismantling session, where the cartons were transformed into bird feeders, lunch boxes, and art pieces.
Clare added: "Our parents particularly love that the children grow their own vegetables in our patches which the amazing chef cooks into fresh and healthy meals for them."
Fair Oak joins more than 60 Bright Horizons nurseries nationwide in the Eco-School's Program, educating children, parents, and staff about environmental issues.
