The inquest into his death was opened at Winchester Coroners' Court yesterday (Wednesday, August 28).
The court heard that the crash happened late on Friday, August 16, when a car rolled and was seen on its side.
Police had previously confirmed that the car involved in the crash was a blue Ford KA and that they were called at 11.30pm.
Paramedics arrived along with police, but the 30-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The air ambulance was not deployed.
A post mortem, carried out by Home Office pathologist Dr Basil Purdue, found the cause of death to be from multiple injuries.
An 18 year-old woman who was driving the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries but has since been discharged, police said.
No other vehicles were involved.
Police closed Normandy Way for several hours to gather evidence, with it being reopened around 7.30am, according to social media reports.
Officers investigating launched a witness appeal later that day, asking anyone who saw what happened or may have recorded the crash to get in touch.
Signs were also put up along the road asking drivers to contact the force if they knew anything about the collision.
A spokesman for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said at the time: "We are asking that any witnesses or those with relevant dash cam footage please call us on 101 quoting reference 44240352481."
The incident led to an outpouring of condolences on social media, including the Daily Echo Facebook page, where followers shared their thoughts with the families of those affected.
Senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson adjourned the case to be heard at Winchester Coroners' Court on August 19 next year.
