A playful pod of dolphins brought smiles to the faces of a crew of lifeboat volunteers in the Solent.
Station manager Lee Cooper from Solent Independent Lifeboat and his fellow volunteers were out on a training exercise in the sea near Thorness Bay on the Isle of Wight and opposite Lepe and Calshot when they spotted the pod.
At first it appeared there were only a couple of dolphins swimming in the wake of the boat, before a whole pod emerged from the foam.
