Four people have been arrested in an attempted murder probe after an injured man turned up to a convenience store asking for help.
Officers were called to Best One on Fratton Road in Portsmouth at 2.40am on Friday (August 16).
A 22 year-old man approached staff asking for medical help after he had been seriously assaulted, police said.
Officers were joined by Central Ambulance Service and the 22-year-old was taken to hospital.
In hospital he received treatment for broken ribs and other injuries, including 'possible stab wounds', police said.
He has since been discharged from hospital.

Officers investigating the assault have now arrested four people.
Two women, aged 35 and 37, and two men, aged 37 and 56, all from Southsea, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police added: "Detectives are working to establish the circumstances of what happened.
"As part of our enquiries we searched a property at Wimpole street as our investigation continues.
"Two women, aged 35 and 37, and two men, aged 37 and 56, who are all from Southsea have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as part of our enquiries.
"They remain in custody at this time.
