Plans to convert two commercial buildings into a pair of semi-detached houses have been submitted.

New Forest District Council has received an application relating to a site at the junction of Commercial Road in Totton and Station Road North.

A design and access statement that accompanies the proposal says the property was a house until the middle of last century.

It adds: "Over the subsequent years, 128 Commercial Road lost its residential nature and became commercial storage for a vehicle tyre business.

"There are residential buildings located on this road and on secondary roads that branch off."

The statement says the property is in a state of disrepair, adding that some of the internal walls have been removed.

It adds: "Generally the building is in poor condition and is in need of refurbishment.

"This proposal seeks to repair damage caused by misuse, ensuring the longevity of the building and the reinstatement of the original residential use is appropriate.

"We therefore feel this proposal is a net positive to the local area and should be approved."
