A Southampton logistics company has committed £1m to expand its fleet and appoint new leadership to enhance operations and efficiency.

Meachers Global Logistics in Nursling says it has put the money forward in order to expand its fleet and appoint new leadership personnel in crucial sectors of the company.

On March 17, it revealed that it bought 10 trailers and six tractors.

Six trailers are co-branded with Meachers' longstanding client, Prysmian Cables and Systems, formerly known as Pirelli Cables, which is situated in Eastleigh.

Former commercial director, Gary Whittle, has assumed the role of operations director, succeeding Rob Lewis who retired in the past month.

Mr Whittle said: "Prysmian is a long-standing trading client and so we are pleased to foster our relationship by increasing the fleet size and including them on the branding. We're investing in our assets and building for the future to make us bigger and more resilient.

"We’re supporting the infrastructure of the organisation, with training, promotions and new faces joining us in key mid-management roles. We’re aiming for a broad resilient team in anticipation of future customer demands."

Concurrently, the company will persist with increasing its fleet and enhancing the team's proficiency to keep pace with the rapidly evolving logistics industry.

Mark Lee has been hired as the general manager to supervise the Freight Forwarding activities, as Emma Newman now assumes the role of warehouse operations manager, leveraging her logistics experience to assure durable and flexible strategies remain at the heart of Meachers.

This comes as the company received a 'Highly Commended' recognition at Palletways' 30th-year Celebration Gala Dinner.

The prestigious event took place at De Vere Wokefield Estate on May 16.

Palletways, a leading express distribution network in Europe, commended the Fair Oak depot team for their excellent service.

Expressing pride in the achievement and gratitude to Palletways for appreciating their work, the company thanked all who celebrated the honour with them.
