Two men wearing balaclavas stabbed a man while he was sat in a parked car outside a convenience store.

Police were called to Morrisons on Hightown Road, Ringwood, just after 7pm on August 3 after reports of a stabbing in the car park.

It was reported that a man in his 20s was sat in a car with the window down waiting for the driver to return from the shop, when two males wearing balaclavas stabbed him in the shoulder.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious but not life-changing or life-threatening injuries.

A shop worker at Morrisons said the stabbing took place outside the shop but that the man came running in for help.

He said no staff were harmed but were “shook up” after the incident.

Morrisons will remain closed until a deep clean has taken place.

Residents said they saw eight to nine police cars swarm the street along with an ambulance which left the scene after a few minutes.

One neighbour said: “It is normally such a quiet place.

“What an appalling thing to happen, it is a sign of the times.”

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Ringwood.

“We were called just after 7pm last night (Saturday 3 August) to a report of a stabbing in the car park of Morrisons on Hightown Road.

“A man in his 20s was sat inside a parked car with the window down, waiting for the driver of the car who had just gone into the shop, when two males wearing balaclavas approached him and stabbed him in the shoulder.

“He was taken to hospital for treatment to serious but not life-changing or life-threatening injuries.

“The two males then fled the scene in a silver Mercedes C200 sport.
