A gardening enthusiast from Chandlers Ford has finished runner-up in the B&Q Gardener of the Year competition.
Amanda Gomersall was awarded second place in the popular competition, scooping a £1000 prize.
Recognised for her efforts, Ms Gomersall won the Best Use of Small Space category.
Ms Gomersall has been working on her 5m x 11m garden since 2018.
She has made the most of her space and the garden us now full of life.
Her clever incorporation of a vertical herb garden, mini greenhouse, storage, and an entertaining space maximises the limited area she had to work with.
Various plants such as Helleborus, Sarcococca, Hostas, Agapanthus and Dahlias are included in her space.
This year’s competition judges, which included influencer Adam Marshall, B&Q head of outdoor, Mairi Devlin, and award-winning garden designers, Matt Childs and Humaira Ikram, were all greatly impressed by the careful consideration that went into her garden.
The arrangement of the seasonal planting alongside the entertainment spaces gave the garden an impressive layout, making it wonderfully appealing all year round.
Ms Gomersall said: "I’m so excited to have won the Best Use of Small Space category in this year’s competition, working on my garden has been a labour of love so I’m incredibly proud to have it recognised by B&Q and the judges."
With her winnings, Ms Gomersall plans to purchase her own safety ladder and a special plant to commemorate her feat in the competition.
Filled with passion for gardening, Ms Gomersall is determined to carry on gardening and sharing her experience on her Instagram account @NeatandPetiteGarden.
Mairi Devlin, head of Outdoor, B&Q, said: "Well done Amanda!
"The judges loved the calm and simplicity of the classic green and white palette.
"The garden is really well-designed for the size of the space.
"It has scale and proportion and the landscaping with the levels and steps, along with the planting and water feature, create real interest.
"As well as being a lovely space to sit in and entertain, we really liked that Amanda had incorporated so much water storage and screened off areas like the greenhouse.
"Clearly a lot of thought went into creating this garden."
