A Fareham firm's innovative refuelling device has attracted the attention of a giant in the industry.
Engineering firm,Barnbrook Systems, has begun discussions about its refuelling switch with the anonymous leading aerospace company following their meeting at Farnborough International Airshow.
The device incorporates Barnbrook's award-winning BlueCube© technology, currently in use on military helicopters crafted by Leonardo.
It is now expected to bolster its potential new client's global fleet of helicopters.
The smart refuelling switch has revolutionised mid-air refuelling by using sensing technology to detect tiny pressure changes in fuel tanks.
In doing so, it flits off pumps in split seconds to prevent spills, making refuelling more accessible, safer, and efficient.
The switch is remarkably valuable for refuelling during turbulence in flight or on ship decks in heavy seas while enhancing aircraft range, performance, and operational capabilities.
Andrew Barnett, managing director of Barnbrook Systems and board director of the Farnborough Aerospace (FAC) consortium, said: "Our refuelling sensor has consistently proved its value for operators where range extension is key for helicopter operations.
"We signed our first contract for the switch at the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow and have received significant and consistent repeat orders since.
"With our culture of innovation and continuous improvement at Barnbrook, we have enhanced and upgraded the system and BlueCube© technology behind it.
"It is incredibly encouraging to enter positive discussions with one of the largest players in global aerospace about deployment of the switch on its fleets of aircraft."
Hampshire-based Barnbrook Systems, supported by nearly 50 staff members, delivers solutions for aviation and aerospace industries worldwide.
The company is a prime contractor and subcontractor with various multinational firms, the UK MOD, and foreign governments.
At present, the company is attending its 14th consecutive airshow, based next to the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) hub.
Earlier this week, it signed an agreement to offer its BlueDot remote sensing and tracking systems for green hydrogen pioneer Protium.
Andrew Barnett also met Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the show's opening day.
The identity of the aerospace company in negotiations with Barnbrook is yet to be announced.
