The following cases have been heard at Southampton Magistrates' Court...

VANESSA TURNER, 43, of Harrison Way, Rownhams pleaded guilty to drug driving and driving without insurance on Southampton Road, Romsey. She was driving a Vauxhall Vectra when she was caught with Benzoylecgonine in her blood - a breakdown product of cocaine. Turner was banned from driving for 36 months and must pay a £120 fine. She was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge. 

PRZEMYSLAW JANIA, 37, of Downview Road, Felpham admitted to using a phone whilst driving a Mercedes on the M27 between junctions nine and ten near Fareham. Jania was fined £192 and received six penalty points. The 37-year-old must pay £110 court costs and a £77 surcharge. 

OLIVER LYONS, 23, of Brookwood Avenue, Eastleigh pleaded guilty to driving without insurance on the A27 eastbound at Portsmouth. He was driving a Hyundai I20 at the time. Lyons was banned from driving for six months and received a £415 fine plus six penalty points. He must pay £110 court costs and a £166 surcharge.

BRIAN MCALLISTER, 45, of Whitbread Road, London admitted to theft from a shop after he stole £114 worth of fragrances from John Lewis in Southampton. He was jailed for six weeks. 

BARRY CLOSE, 43, pleaded guilty to possessing a large kitchen knife in a public place, namely Lawn Road, Southampton. He was jailed for four months. An order was made for the forfeiture and destruction of the knife. 

BILLY WELCH, 29, of Harborough Road, Southampton pleaded guilty to burglary after he entered Corals in Bitterne Road, Southampton with intent to steal. Welch received a one-year community order with 25 rehabilitation days and must pay £474.31 worth of compensation. He was excluded from entering any betting shop in Southampton for 12 months. Welch must pay a £95 surcharge.
