Two Hampshire hounds, trained for a trail hunting pack, have qualified for Crufts 2025.

Saddle, a three-year-old female, and Warrior, an 18-month-old male, secured their places due to their success at the Hound Association Championship Show in Stafford on July 20.

Both dogs displayed their prowess, winning best of sex in their respective classes at the County Showground. Warrior also won best of breed.

This accomplishment follows another achievement by Sparkle, a working foxhound owned by the Duke of Northumberland, who also secured a place at Crufts 2025 earlier this summer.

The prior year's Crufts saw trail hunting hounds, Anglezarke and President from the Holcombe Harriers, compete for the first time.

They took top honours, with Anglezarke winning overall best in breed and President achieving the best opposite sex title.

Unsurprisingly, both are set to return in 2025. The hounds are from The Hampshire Hunt, one of the oldest in England, tracing back to 1745.

It's a member of the British Hound Sports Association (BHSA), a body dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and protection of hunting with hounds.

In the last six months alone, 92 different charities received a total of £460,000 from BHSA-registered hunts.

Simon Dunn, huntsman at the Hampshire Hunt, who showed both hounds, said: "We are absolutely delighted that two of our Foxhounds will be represented at the world’s most recognised dog show. They did so well this weekend at the hound show.

"Foxhounds are a wonderful breed, very intelligent, gentle, and obedient. Crufts is the biggest dog show in the world, so to qualify alone is a huge achievement and I am so proud of them."
