The Mayflower stage has been a launching pad for legends since flapper dresses were all the rage in the 1920s.

Back then it went by the name The Empire, afterwards The Gaumont,  but the star power has stayed electric.

Think of it as a revolving door for musical royalty: The Beatles, the Stones, even Queen – they all rocked the stage there.

One pic, from 1975, captures the pure pandemonium of Bay City Rollers ticket mania. Another, from 1980, shows some truly dedicated fans camping out for a one-night-only Genesis gig.
