Children's services in Hampshire have once again been rated outstanding by Ofsted inspectors.

The county council's services made a positive impact on children's lives, reported the inspection, which took place from June 3 to 14, 2024.

This continues the streak from the previous rating in 2019, reinforcing the council's commitment to its young citizens.

Ofsted highlighted the effective and timely action of social workers who ensure the safety of children and provide suitable support to meet their individual needs.

The recent inspection also mentioned the outstanding service at Swanwick Lodge, a secure home for children where specialist support is available for the most vulnerable.

The inspectors praised the council's inclusive and creative approach to child protection, demonstrating a significant and continuing strength.

This method fosters a tighter bond with the parents, extended families, friends, and reinforces family resilience, resulting in a positive and long-lasting change.

Parents are given assistance to develop skills and strategies to cater to their children's needs.

Moreover, support from wider networks allows more children to remain at home safely.

The report confirms that children under the care of local authorities receive good and nurturing care for the right reasons.

Councillor Roz Chadd, the county council’s cabinet lead member for children’s services, said: "We have always been proud of the quality of our Children’s Services.

"Of our many legal responsibilities as a local authority, supporting children and young people to get the best possible start in life and protecting those who are most vulnerable, are undoubtedly amongst the most important.

"Our latest Ofsted inspection confirms again that we continue to do this to the very highest national standards, despite the backdrop of growing demand and complexity in the needs of children locally – a situation mirrored across the country."
