A family-run takeaway serving "fat" sandwiches welcomed queues of hungry customers.
Maurie’s is the latest addition to the Southampton sandwich scene.
Run by sister duo Phoebe and Masie White, the pair gave customers a taste of what to expect at its soft launch opening on Sunday.
The takeaway will fully open its doors on July 25.
The tiny takeaway and sandwich and coffee shop on The Avenue is a new venture for the siblings, done in honour of their late grandfather Maurice.
“It is a tribute to his lifelong pursuit of the best sandwich around”, the pair said.
On Sunday, many customers praised the stuffed sandwiches for their freshness and even their unique names.
Kyle Judge, 39, ordered the sandwich called ‘Fat Sue’ which consists of cotto ham, mortadella, salami, cheese, tomato and mustard vinaigrette.

He said: “Firstly fantastic name, and its name is fantastic. It tastes absolutely sensational and the best thing about it is that it's fresh.
“It’s a big surprise at how big it is, but you get a bit of everything in your first bite and everything is good, the lettuce is crunchy because it’s all fresh, it’s meaty.
"It’s a very well-balanced sandwich.”
Meanwhile, Lorna Bailey said: “It was great. Sometimes with vegan sandwiches, they can be a bit boring and dry, but it was good.
"When you bite into it you get a bit of the aubergine and then the romesco sauce. It was fantastic.
“This was probably the best vegan sandwich I have ever had.”
The shop – which replaces the Sandwich Box in The Avenue – sells fresh-out-of-the-oven focaccia bread filled with ingredients including cheese, delicatessen meats and roasted vegetables.
Phoebe and Maisie said: “Everything on the menu is an original recipe by the family team, the menu is concise and concentrated, just like a sauce reduced to its finest flavours.
“Featuring four fully loaded sandwiches, you'll find an impressive selection of signature sauces.”
