An orchestra is celebrating its 60th anniversary with an epic concert programme.
The Southampton Concert Orchestra will be at Romsey Abbey on Saturday, July 20 at 7.30pm.
The highlight of the evening will be Mahler's seventh symphony, which uses a huge orchestra including 10 double basses.
They will also be performing two pieces by Wagner - the Meistersingers Overture and Siegfried Idyll.
Paul Ingram, the orchestra's conductor, said: “Mahler's 7th symphony is an extraordinary piece of symphonic music and we're delighted to be able to bring this work to Romsey Abbey on July 20.
"The symphony is often referred to by the title the Song of the Night and can be said to portray the journey from darkness to light.
"It's a wonderful opportunity to hear some instruments that you rarely hear in an orchestral concert including tenor horn, mandolin, guitar and plenty of cow bells.
“As the orchestra celebrates 60 years of music making in the area, we hope that you can join us by experiencing this monumental work in the beautiful surroundings of Romsey Abbey.”
