Southampton is set to swelter with temperatures reaching 28 degrees this afternoon, as summer finally comes to the city.
Bright sunshine has been forecast throughout the day with temperatures peaking between 3pm and 4pm.
The Met Office said: “Today will be fine and dry with sunny spells.
“Feeling very warm or hot, with light winds. Breezy along the coasts, where it will feel a little fresher.”
A heat health alert has been issued for the city, with the UK Health Agency warning of a “significant impact” across the health and social care sector due to the high temperatures.

The alert will be in place from 5pm tonight (Friday, July 19) until 11pm tomorrow night.
