Steam, sailing, food and fun, it's all happening in Hampshire this weekend.
Here's our pick of five things to do to keep all the family entertained on Saturday and Sunday (July 20 and 21).
At Netley Marsh...
The South's premier steam and craft show returns to the showground at Netley Marsh this weekend.
It has something for everyone, whether its the sound and smell of the steam engines or the smell of the food outlets dotted across the site, you can be sure there is something for you!
Maybe you are a collector, a steam fanatic, an exhibitor, trader, music fan or just on holiday in the South and fancy an event to attend, there's something for all the family.
In 2022, the show celebrated its 50th birthday.
In Winchester...
The UK’s biggest touring celebrity food and music festival series returns to Winchester this weekend.
Following record-breaking visitor numbers in 2023, Foodies Festival is back at North Walls Recreation Ground with some brand new features and a star-studded line-up of celebrity chefs and chart-topping music stars, including Blue, Sister Sledge and Symphonic Ibiza Orchestra.
The three-day event will feature live cooking demonstrations from TV celebrities and chefs drawn from the ranks of MasterChef, Great British Bake Off and Great British Menu including local favourites Shelina Permaloo, Daniel Rogan, Philip Bishop and Andrew Du Bourg.
At Bucklers Hard...
Visitors to Buckler's Hard can tour pilot cutter Amelie Rose and chat with its crew.
The 2009 replica will be showcased in its newly refurbished form on Saturday and Sunday. This unique boat was commissioned by skipper owner Nicola Beck, who has been operating it as a charter vessel.
The Amelie Rose gained recognition for featuring in TV programmes such as The Hungry Sailors and the recent BBC adaptation of Great Expectations.
Buckler's Hard, a boatyard managed by Henry and his son Balthazar Adams, constructed warships for the Royal Navy and revenue cutters that were similar in design to the Amelie Rose.
Visitors can tour the cutter for free from 1pm to 3pm.
In Shirley...
The Big Green Carnival, at St James Park on Sunday, is designed to be a memorial to Wayne Howard and to celebrate the eco-friendliness of the local community.
Wayne, from Millbrook, died in 2021, having learned to walk talk eat and drink again after being critically injured in an horrific motorcycle accident 21 years before.
There will be a walking carnival, with participants showing their take on how to save our planet.
Also enjoy alpacas, a marching band, eco inspired fancy dress, food stalls, circus skills and much more.
In Fordingbridge...
Enjoy a day of fun and family activities as Fordingbridge Festival returns for 2024.
The event will include arena events, live music, animals, commercial stands, sales stands, craft and charity stalls, children's area full of entertainment, beer tent, vintage vehicles and a duck race on the river.
Designed to bring the community together, it takes place on the Recreation Ground on Saturday.
