A man has been arrested after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted on a Bluestar bus.
Police said the woman was at a bus shelter on Commercial Road at around 11am yesterday when a man approached her.
The man tried talking to her before following her onto the T3 or T4 bus, police said.
While travelling, police claimed the man leant over and kissed the woman without her consent before then approaching the woman again when other members of the public had left that area of the bus.
A 23-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has since been released under investigation, pending further police enquiries.
Officers are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward to help their investigation.
A police spokesperson said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been on the bus travelling between 11am and 11.15am yesterday from the Commercial Road area of Totton.
“Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference 44240301366. “
