It was only in its second year, but already the Eastleigh Summer Music Festival was gaining momentum.
The event was living up to organiser Peter Chegwyn’s claim for it being “the biggest live music event in Hampshire”.
The ten-day event saw Bill Wyman, Will Young and Aled Jones entertain in the circus-style big top in Eastleigh’s Fleming Park.
More than 60,000 music fans descended on the town, which was still getting to grips with its overnight reputation as one of the country’s top live music destinations.
The biggest coups in July 2004 were undoubtedly Will Young and Dionne Warwick, while the eclectic programme took in everything from classical with Aled Jones and the Libera Choir, to blues from Eric Bibb.
These pictures were taken at the Will Young concert.
