A post on Southampton police’s Facebook page said: “On our dedicated patrol of Shirley high street today (Wednesday) we thought Poundland had a phenomenal sale on when we saw a female walk out completely laden with goods.
“Turns out she had attempted the 100 per cent discount. Upon some digging it also turned out she was suspect for an assault, theft and was further arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs.”
The police spokesperson added: “Turns out the 100 per cent discount does have a cost.”
