The first ever Southampton Fringe festival is set to take over the city next week.

From Thursday (July 11), to Saturday, the city centre will come alive with comedy, dance, live music, poetry and theatre in SO:Fringe.

One of the organisers, Daniel Harris, told the Daily Echo: "The SO:FRINGE team cannot wait for everyone to enjoy the festival. It is really going to be a celebration of the very best creativity within the city."

Southampton's oldest established musical society SOS Presents brings Guys and Dolls to the stage at MAST Mayflower Studios from Wednesday to Saturday, as part of the Fringe and its own centenary celebrations. 

Tomorrow, Maybe, the award-winning immersive song-cycle by local writers Amies & Clements, is coming back to Southampton from Thursday to Saturday with stories from a commuters coffee shop. 

Enjoy the hilarious voyage of discovery into the world of opera with Is Opera Boring? at Stage Door on Thursday. 

Heartbreakers hosts an evening with the talented Shannon B on Thursday. 

The same night is Pride & Prejudice as you've never experienced it before at MAST Mayflower Studios.

Thursday also sees Musical StoryBox, the ultimate musical storytelling experience, and The Lock-In come to Central Library. 

There's the Lose Your Own Adventure / In Search of Love and Other Lies Scratch Night (Double Bill) at Heartbreakers on Friday, with another great double bill Ain't No Chopping Me Down & The feeling of knowing something is wrong at MAST on the same evening. 

Fresh from the runway of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, comedy crossdresser Kate Butch has written a jukebox musical based on the songs of Kate Bush and brings it to Stage Door on Friday.

Grab a pint and settle in for an afternoon of exciting poets and spoken word artists at Belgium & Blues on Saturday afternoon. 

The Garret Theatre Company presents Spitfire Patrol, a comedy following a group of Guides in wartime England who must learn to put aside their fears and prejudices when an enemy soldier stumbles into camp, at MAST, also on July 13 daytime. Visually stunning theatre piece Twisted Tales follows in the evening at MAST.

Dan works at the South Coast's most successful and infamous gay sauna in Sauna Boy at Heartbreakers on Saturday.
