Police in Swanwick closed a bridge after two people suffered injuries due to a three vehicle crash. 

Officers in the Fareham area closed the bridge on Bridge Road in Swanwick late on Monday evening for around two hours.

The force closed the bridge after a three vehicle crash. Two people suffered minor injuries and a 27-year-old man from Southampton was reported for failing to stop after a road accident.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Police were called at 10.43pm on Monday, 17 June to reports of a collision on Bridge Road.

"The collision involved three vehicles.

"Two people suffered minor injuries.

"A 27-year-old man from Southampton has been reported for summons for failing to stop after a road accident."

Residents who saw the police cordon on Bridge Road said that it lasted for more than two hours. 

One motorist who drove up to the bridge and was diverted away by police said: "There were around four police cars blocking the bridge - whatever was causing the issues seemed to be quite serious. 

"It was pretty shocking to see all the police lights. I hope that those involved are all safe and well."
