A man was left with several injuries after being punched in the face multiple times outside a shop, police said.
The alleged assault happened outside the Co-op on Sandy Lane in Fair Oak between 9pm and 9.15pm on Tuesday, April 30.
Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, had just left the store when he was approached by an unknown man.
The victim then reported being punched several times causing bruising to his face and a chipped tooth.
Police say there were other people in the area at the time and have released the image of a man in the shop at the time who tried to stop the assault.
Officers are now appealing for the person to come forward to assist in their enquiries.
A police spokesperson said: “We know that there were other people in the area at the time of the incident and we are releasing this image of a man who was in the shop at the time and tried to intervene.
“If you are the person in this image, or you know who he is, please call 101 and quote incident number 44240179533.”
