Large plumes of black smoke billowed over the M27 following a derelict building fire.

Drivers battled through thick smoke caused by a blaze on the other side of the motorway on Saturday.

Firefighters from Fareham and Hightown were called to the building in Botley Road, Swanwick around 2pm.

The fire service had received reports of smoke visible from the M27.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the affected building to be a disused shed, which had been engulfed by flames.

The fire was extinguished, and crews left the scene shortly after 3.30pm.
