A fire tore through a Portakabin earlier this morning.

Crews from Redbridge and Totton rushed to the fire off Bury Road in Marchwood following reports of smoke around 6.30 this morning.

After arriving at the scene and investigating, a 3m x 5m out-of-use Portakabin was found to be almost burnt out on a site inaccessible by crews as it sits on a hardstand in an isolated area away from any other buildings.

According to the fire service, one crew remain at the scene and maintained a watching brief.

The incident is to be handed over to the landowner.

"A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "At just after 6.30am this morning crews from Redbridge and Totton were called to a fire off Bury Road in Marchwood following reports of smoke.

"On investigation, a 3m x 5m container was found to be almost burnt out on a site inaccessible by crews. The container is on a hardstanding and is in an isolated area away from any other buildings.

"One crew remains at the location and are currently maintaining a watching brief. The incident is to be handed over to the landowner."
