- Plumes of smoke can be seen coming from near Marchwood.
- The smoke comes from a fire involving a portacabin in a site inaccessible to crews.
- Firefighters remain at the scene.
The fire service has now updated the information, stating that the container is actually an out-of-use portacabin.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "At just after 6.30am this morning crews from Redbridge and Totton were called to a fire off Bury Road in Marchwood following reports of smoke.
"On investigation, a 3m x 5m container was found to be almost burnt out on a site inaccessible by crews. The container is on a hardstanding and is in an isolated area away from any other buildings.
"One crew remains at the location and are currently maintaining a watching brief. The incident is to be handed over to the landowner."
Fred Flynn who took this picture said: "At first it was just a little smoke then it was billowing out very black smoke and then the flames were very visible. The smoke was very black & dense & it was probably going for well over an hour."
We have had pictures shared with us by Fred Flynn.
