A police car has been involved in a serious crash on the M27.
The car collided with a white van, which was allegedly spotted driving the wrong way on the Southampton stretch of the westbound carriageway on Saturday night at around 9.40pm.
According to police, the van caused three vehicles to crash into each other, and the passenger of one of these vehicles suffered a fractured ankle.
The van then collided with the police car, which was en-route to another incident at the time, police confirmed.
According to one Twitter user, who witnessed the incident, he saw 'a police car all smashed up'.

Officers arrested a 55-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs.
He has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
