A school in Eastleigh has organised its first ever Iftar meal for pupils and their families taking part in Ramadan.
Thornden School had over 120 guests, gathering just before sunset to eat dinner on the school grounds.
Those who wanted to pray had a space to do so, before eating a meal of curry, rice, and naan bread for Iftar – the meal eaten by Muslims to break their fast after sunset every day during Ramadan.
Head of Thornden School, Caroline Lowing, said: “It really was a wonderful occasion and one that meant a lot to our students and their families.

“It is so important to me that Thornden is an inclusive school.
“We have a diverse group of students here and we want everyone to be their authentic selves and feel that they belong.”
She added: “Holding an iftar meal has long been a dream for me and I can’t believe that I get to do it at Thornden.
“This wonderful school and I feel genuinely privileged.”
The event took place on Thursday, March 14.
