A new headteacher has been appointed for a secondary school long considered one of Hampshire's very best.
Caroline Lowing will take on the role of leading Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ Thornden School in Chandler's Ford in September after being appointed as Interim Head of School a year ago.
Ms Lowing, who has over 20 years of experience in education and school improvement, said she is honoured to be stepping into this role and has ambitious goals for the school’s progression.

She told the Daily Echo: “Thornden is a thriving, oversubscribed school and is on the path to flourishing into a truly outstanding secondary school. I’m delighted to take on this opportunity to lead Thornden and its parent and pupil community as it develops and grows.
“I’m looking forward to building new relationships, setting high aspirations, and building a vibrant and happy school community.”
Thornden School has been a member of HISP Multi-Academy Trust since 2012.
