The latest update
The broken-down train has now been successfully moved.
As a result, trains are now able to run from Brockenhurst to Southampton.
A spokesperson from SWR said: "We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused while services were suspended.
"However, please note that while services have resumed, there may still be some disruptions to the timetable.
"Our dedicated control room team is working to restore a normal train service as quickly as possible.
"Please continue to listen for announcements and check our website or social media channels for the latest updates on the situation.
"Our staff members are available to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. "
Lines reopen
All lines have now reopened following the earlier disruption.

Train breakdown
The 7.20am Poole to London Waterloo service experienced a breakdown and is currently unable to draw power from the conductor rail.
As a result, the train is unable to continue its journey.
The 6.55am Weymouth to London Waterloo service has been terminated at Redbridge.
This train will be designated as a "rescue train" and will attempt to recover the broken-down service.
You can also use your ticket to travel on:
CrossCountry services between Bournemouth and Basingstoke in both directions.
CrossCountry tickets will also be accepted on SWR Services.
Train replacement services
To assist travellers with their journey, their ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on the following services:
- Bluestar routes 6, 8, 9, 11 and 12 between Southampton and Brockenhurst
- Salisbury Red bus route X7R between Southampton and Romsey via Totton and Millbrook
SWR's plan of action
South Western Railway has said train crew are in contact with their fleet maintenance team who are investigating and working towards fixing the fault.
A rescue train is being prepared to attach to the faulty train to move to a suitable location.
