IT'S the popular neighbourhood pub with bargain food and a summer festival, which is taken over by 300 children each Christmas.

Breakfast with Santa is just one of the events which attracts a big following at The New Clock Inn at Fair Oak. 

Staff, who just love seeing the little ones faces when they meet Father Christmas during one of the biggest events in the calendar, are all geared up for the next big event, the summer festival. 

Due to take place on Saturday August 26, part of the bank holiday weekend, it will include loads of live bands, kids inflatables and stalls.

Part of the Hungry Horse group, the pub is also well known for its great value menu. There's two meals for £11.49 on weekdays and a deal every day of the week - from kids eat for £1 on Mondays to buy one get one free burgers on a Friday and even two roast dinners for £14.49 on a Sunday. 

Best known as a lager pub, there's also a wide range of gins, spirits, cocktails and more available behind the bar.

"We love meeting new people every day," says general manager of two years Matthew Fowler. "Pouring happiness into people lives is what we are all about."

Previously The Clock Inn and renamed with the more modern moniker following a refurbishment a few years ago, the pub is a hotspot for locals, but also attracts visitors to nearby Marwell Zoo and Itchen Valley Country Park. 

It boasts a rear garden with children's play equipment and outdoor seating at the front, as well as a pool table.

Staff member Jason Davies has been nominated for a Pride of Greene King award, which recognises the stars of the trade and Matthew's friendly team also includes Amy Mcgailey, Michael Saint, Cary Ann Hambridge, Abi Mitchell, Ethan Bethwick, and Aiden Kirby.

A fantastic jubilee event last year will live long in the memory of the hundreds who turned out and live music takes over the place on special occasions. 

Regular charity fundraisers take place, including a raffle for Macmillan Cancer Support.
