Millbrook has a total of 11 candidates standing from five parties.
The breakdown is three Labour, three Conservative, three Liberal Democrat, one Green and one TUSC.
If no statement was received the candidate has “no comment” under their name.
You can find a list of all the candidates standing in each ward here.
Here is what the candidates are saying:
Vikkie Cheng – Conservatives
“Vikkie has been a part of the local Conservatives team since 2019 and is an outstanding community champion for the past 10 years.
On top of her work as a chartered accountant, she gives a lot of her time to community work and research – from volunteering on community radio, to helping charity projects and local organisations.
Vikkie works very hard all year round to ensure that the community interests are taken into account and has made great contributions to the local community.
A vote for Vikkie is also a vote to stop the Labour council running into bankruptcy.”
Joanne Steve Clements – Greens
“- A vote for £1 bus fares
– A vote for clean air
– A vote for decency and integrity in politics
Please give Joanne Clements one of your votes on May 4. We desperately need Green councillors like John elected.”
Christian Michael Cox – Labour
“I will ensure that council proposals are beneficial to residents in Millbrook, with a focus on fixing local roads and maintaining local services.”
Andrew Day – Liberal Democrats
No comment.
Steven Graham Patrick Galton – Conservatives
“On top of the local issues that matter. Ensuring money is spent wisely and delivering on the environment. As an experienced former councillor, Steve has the knowledge and commitment to just get things done.
You know what you are getting if you elect Steve again for Millbrook ward.”
Andrew David Howe – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
“I’m standing for election on a bold, clear, socialist platform.
I’m standing against endless cuts and closures of our city’s services: I want to re-open all the closed youth centres, libraries, and walk-in centres.
I’m standing against transphobia, homophobia, and racism: solidarity with all oppressed groups. Southampton needs a pay rise, and we need to stand together in Millbrook and beyond.
I’m standing for decisive, concrete action now to address the climate emergency.
I’m standing to support the ‘Right to Food’ campaign against food poverty: we need free school meals now across Southampton and throughout the summer to help families.”
Ashley Mark Minto – Labour
“I will campaign to make Millbrook and Regents Park a great place for everyone to live.”
Jeremy Richard Moulton – Conservatives
“Jeremy has 18 years experience as city councillor, serving twice as deputy leader of the council and as cabinet member for growth (economic development and transport).
Jeremy has been successful in securing needed investment for Millbrook. Resurfacing Pennine Road and Mill and South Mill Roads in Regents Park along with funding for a new play park at Paignton Road.
Jeremy will fight to ensure this funding isn’t cut by Labour.
A vote for Jeremy is a vote to stop Labour’s Millbrook Bus Lane which will cause traffic chaos, and a vote to turn the street lights back on at night.”
Adrian Pimley – Labour
“Adrian Pimley has worked in further education as a teacher and manager for many years, training apprentices and learners in vocational qualifications around employment. He remains interested in training and education along with housing and the economy.”
Jeff Robinson – Liberal Democrats
No comment.
Martin Ryan – Liberal Democrats
