You can find a list of all the candidates standing in each ward here.
Here is what the candidates are saying:
Roger Baker – Liberal Democrats
“Roger has lived in Swaythling for 23 years and has raised his family here. He is involved with the local church and is deeply embedded in our community. Roger wants to use his deep knowledge of our local area, and his experience in business, to stand up for local people on the council.”
Matthew William George Bunday – Labour
“I grew up in Mayfield Road and I am passionate about Swaythling and Mansbridge and want to make them the best they can be. In my first term I worked hard to reduce rubbish and fly-tipping, add extra greenery to the ward, and improve our public spaces.”
Nick Chaffey – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
“We have a severe housing crisis in Southampton because there is not enough low rent council housing, its too expensive for most to buy and private rent increases are out of control. Both Tory and Labour councils have knocked down council housing and replaced it with more expensive, less secure social housing. We need councillors who will refuse to increase council rents, implement rent controls in the private sector, restore direct works jobs at the council to carry out urgent repairs and build low rent, sustainable council housing for all in need. We need socialist policies to end the housing crisis.”
Angela Mary Cotton – Greens
“Angela is a retired clinical scientist who worked at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust for 30 years. She has lived in Swaythling for over 20 years and is active in the local community, recently helping set up a regular repair cafe in the ward.
Angela supports the campaign for £1 bus fares, clean air in the city and decency and integrity in politics.”
Lorna Eileen Fielker – Labour
“I live on the Flower Roads and have represented Swaythling since 2018. I’ve secured investment to improve play facilities. It’s been a privilege to work with local people on community projects. We’ve achieved so much together and I’m looking forward to more.”
Thomas Stephen Gravatt – Liberal Democrats
“Thomas lives locally and works at the University of Southampton. Thomas has campaigned to improve road safety in our area and to secure investment in local facilities. Thomas wants to improve public transport, protect our environment, and do more to promote Southampton’s heritage and history.”
Amy Eve Greenwood – Liberal Democrats
“Amy is a doctor at Southampton General Hospital and is a passionate advocate for better health and social care. If elected, Amy wants to work on the council to improve access to vital healthcare services like GPs, dentists, and social care. Amy’s experience will make her a real asset on the council.”
Nicole Harris – Conservatives

Sharon Elizabeth Mintoff – Labour
“In 2012, I was the first Labour councillor elected in Swaythling. I live in the ward in the Hampton Park area. I work for our NHS at the General Hospital. If elected, I pledge to listen to our residents and reply to queries in a timely fashion.”
