Here is what the candidates are saying:
Richard Blackman – Liberal Democrats
“Richard works at the university and was elected as one of your councillors last May. He has a strong record of action in Bassett and has worked hard to help residents with their issues and concerns. Richard is fighting to reduce inequality in the city and is pressing the council to improve its environmental policies.”
Sam Philip Chapman – Liberal Democrats
“Sam has lived in Bassett most of his life and now lives here with his wife Kathryn and their two children. Sam works for the NHS and is passionate about investing in the Sports Centre, improving public transport, and making Southampton a destination city. He is also involved with the local Scouts.”
Lawrence James Murray Coomber – Labour
“I’ve been involved in politics my entire life, from being a Youth Councillor to a Member of Youth Parliament, meaning I know how important it is to solve local issues that matter to people. If elected I promise to make a tangible positive change for everyone living in Southampton.”
Philip Edward Crook – Reform UK
“Served in the Army with the Royal Engineers for 33 years on global operations. Educated at St Georges School Swaythling, Richard Taunton College Southampton and RMA Sandhurst. Retired 2006 as a Lieutenant Colonel then involved in business. A busy grandfather, writing, supporting Saints and engaging in politics. Married and lives in Bassett his family home since 1969. We need actions not words to deal with the road congestion, HMOs, stop the council wasting your money, getting the sports centre work started, better police presence and to improve the city’s economy the key driver for better services.”
