You can find a list of all the candidates standing in each ward here.
Here is what the candidates are saying:
Andy Beal – Liberal Democrats
“Andy has lived in Southampton for 18 years, moving to Banister & Polygon about five years ago. He believes that local government is about doing what is best for the local people, but the two main parties in Southampton seem to have lost sight of this. If elected, he will adopt a rational and pragmatic approach to representing the residents of Banister & Polygon. He believes that their views should shape council policy.”
Scott William Davis – Conservatives
No comment.
Pat Evemy – Labour
“I’ve lived in the Polygon since 1985 and raised my family here. If elected, I will work with tenants and landlords to improve housing, solve the bin problem and tackle anti-social behaviour. When you need assistance, I promise to help however I can.”
Marley George Guthrie – Conservatives
No comment.
Sharon Keenan – Greens
“Sharon is a Flower Essence Practitioner and Producer of EarthSong Essences and celebrant. Born in Southampton of Northern Irish parents, Sharon has lived and worked in the city for most of her life. She has lived in the Polygon since 2012.
“Sharon has been an advocate for nature for many years and cares deeply for clean spaces and clean water.
“She has been a keen supporter of several local environmental groups and campaigns including Hampshire Against Fluoride, No Biomass, and Clean Air Southampton. She is also in support of Southampton becoming a national park.”
Steve Leggett – Labour
“Since I was first elected in 2018, I have been lobbying hard to gain extra investment in the ward that has seen more fly-tipping incidents reported, more roads and pavements resurfaced, drainage issues fixed, and more measures implemented to improve safety for local residents.”
Josh Payne – Conservatives
No comment.
James Vincent Rucci – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
No comment.
Josh Smith – Liberal Democrats
“Josh is a physics graduate of Southampton University and originally from Essex. He’s lived in Southampton for over seven years, works full time at the University’s students’ union and volunteers with the Scouts. He’s standing in this election to help rebuild our community. We need to make our parks safe, our city clean and fix the divide between locals and students. Most importantly, he wants to give people a voice and a way to directly shape how councillors represent them.”
Aimee Stokes – Liberal Democrats
“Aimee has lived in Southampton for 15 years, and moved to Banister and Polygon with her young family in 2019. She supports local parents as a National Childbirth Trust (NCT) volunteer and she’s a parent volunteer with a local Scout group. She recently started a Neighbourhood Watch in her neighbourhood, who are challenging antisocial behaviour and fly-tipping while bringing the community together. If elected, she will push the council to do more on these priorities, make Shirley High Street even more welcoming for the local community, and call for more engaging activities for young people across the city.”
Vivienne Windle – Labour
“After being elected, I’ve worked hard for residents, helped launch a Renters’ Forum, worked to reform HMO licences and more. In Banister & Polygon, people tell me key problems are HMOs, litter and antisocial behaviour. If re-elected, I will put all my energy into these issues.”
