GENERAL entries for the ABP Southampton Marathon have closed, but organisers have announced that late entrants still have the opportunity to sign up.
Echo readers that are still keen to take part can use the code ‘ECHO’ at the checkout to receive 10% off the entry fee.
Those participants who register from now will have to collect their race packs from Guildhall Square on May 4 from 10am to 2pm, or on raceday, May 5, from 7am.
Race packs will be posted in April to any runners that signed up for the event before March 25, with the packs including a race bib and timing chip, as well as the schedule for race day and the route maps.
Nikki Rees, managing director for the ABP Southampton Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K event, said: “We are happy to announce that, due to unprecedented demand, and a late surge in entries, we will be taking late sign-ups ahead of the ABP Southampton Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K so that runners don’t miss out.
“There are very few spaces left in each distance at present so runners should be quick to get in before time runs out.
“We are really excited for all of our runners to see the exciting additions to this year’s event.
“With increased entertainment areas and Sprouts Childcare new to this year, we have ensured that – along with the participants – residents and supporters also get to enjoy the day.
The ABP Southampton Marathon takes place on May 5, and will feature a marathon, half marathon, a 10K and a children’s fun run.
Last year, over £300,000 was raised for charity, including the two lead charities – Southampton Hospital Charity and Macmillan Cancer Support.
