A SOUTHAMPTON bike owner has been left “heartbroken” after his rare motorbike was destroyed in a fire.
Andrew Slack, 43, left his house to go to work on Sunday morning to find his motorbike missing from the front garden.
The security worker had owned the 1999 Honda Fireblade 919RR since October – and it was his “pride and joy”.
But, as reported, firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze early on Sunday morning – where Andrew’s bike and another had been set alight.
The two bikes were completely destroyed by fire in the incident on Test Lane, Nursling, at around 4am on Sunday.
Andrew said: “When I walked out of my house at 7am my bike wasn’t there.
“To have it in Rothman’s racing colours is very rare.
“It’s my baby bike. I worked my backside off to get it.
“It’s I’ll never be able to buy it again. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to have.”
The bike is worth around £2,000 – but Andrew said the enjoyment he and his family have had from the bike is priceless.
When he took to social media to appeal for help finding the bike his post was shared thousands of times amongst the south coast biker community.
Hampshire police have been contacted for a comment.
