GIANT pumpkins, police cells and a lot of Lego

Those are just some of the delights you can experience on a day out this weekend.

Here's our guide to the top ten things to do in Hampshire...

(1) At Royal Victoria Country Park...

THE biggest pumpkins grown in the country are to be on show as a popular festival returns tomorrow.

There will be giant pumpkins, scarecrows, music, crafts and lots of food at the Jubilee Sailing Trust Autumn Pumpkin Festival and Scarecrow Avenue this year.

Panatical Steel band from Crestwood Community School will kick start the event at 12.15pm and other bands will perform throughout the day including the Southampton Ukulele Jam, Wood Wire and Words and the acoustic duo Coastel.

Pumpkins will also be sitting on the scales in a bid to find the new UK Champion Pumpkin.

Residents are also encouraged to bring along their scarecrows to the festival in order to be enjoyed by the whole community.

There will also be several food stalls and pumpkin produce.

The event is organised by volunteers led by the Southampton-based charity Jubilee Sailing Trust, which aims to integrate physically disabled people with able-bodied people on tall ships in a bid to boost their confidence.

Tickets cost £5 and can be bought on the day. The gates will open at 12pm and the festival will run until 5pm.

(2) At Winchester Law Courts...

LAW courts in Hampshire will throw open their doors to the public this weekend for a behind-the-scenes look at how justice is served.

Visitors will have the chance to visit cells, see inside a prison van, watch a mock trial and even try on a judge's robes and wig at Winchester Law Courts' Criminal Justice Open Day.

The day will include two mock trials and a mock magistrate's court trial, along with the opportunity to sit in the judge's chair and have your fingerprints taken.

The emergency services will also be stopping by for people of all ages to check out the inside of their vehicles.

Along with a bouncy castle and face-painting all day, there will be a raffle raising money for the Winchester Citizen’s Advice Bureau for their witness service.

The Criminal Justice Open Day tomorrow will run from 10am to 3pm at the courts at the top of the High Street.

(3) At Broadlands, Romsey...

JOIN fundraisers for a fun-filled three hours supporting Macmillan Cancer Support.

On stage there will be Argentine Tango and Jive dance displays, as well as performances from talented singers Ryan Grainger from The Voice Kids and Kim G.

Then be thrilled by the skills of the amazing hula hoopers. Join in free dance/yoga/hula hoop lessons or simply sit and watch the world go by in the beautiful historic surroundings.

Compere Danny from Dance yourself Dizzy will warm the crowd up for a Guinness World Record attempt to get 500 people hula hooping at 1pm.

(4) At Perins School, Alresford...

ALRESFORD celebrates its third Apple Day on Sunday as Hampshire Farmers Market joins in to make it the biggest event yet.

For the past two years Alresford Rotary singlehandedly planned the apple celebration at Arlebury Park.

This year the organisations have joined forces and moved the festival to Perins School lower car park as they are expecting “many more” visitors.

The Hampshire Farmers Market has added over 30 new stalls to ensure there’s something for everyone.

People are encouraged to bring their own apples and make fresh apple juice between 10am-2pm on Sunday.

If you bring apples, the ‘deal’ is that you get back half of your apples as juice for you to take home and the other 50 per cent is sold for charity.

Last year Rotary processed over two tonnes of apples.

The organisers promise a fun day out filled with face painting, apple bobbing, juggling Jake and locally produced goods.

(5) In Romsey Town Centre...

IT ONLY comes around twice a year, and this weekend it is back with a bang.

On Sunday, from 9.30am to 3.30pm, the highly successful Antiques & Decorative Arts Fair will be setting up shop in Romsey town centre with 100 stands at five locations.

This unique event brings together passionate enthusiasts traders. By offering both inside and outside spaces, a wide range of interesting items will be on sale so whether you are a collector or just an impulse buyer there will be plenty to choose from.

All venues are free to enter and you can pick up a map from many of the local shops.

There will also be street food and cream teas available.

(6) At Hampshire cinemas...

THE spirit of reconstruction runs deep in The LEGO Ninjago Movie, the third computer-animated adventure in the rapidly expanding franchise.

Charlie Bean, Paul Fisher and Bob Logan's film lazily bolts together themes from The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie to explore a strained father-son dynamic against a backdrop of martial arts mayhem.

The riotous, barnstorming comedy of the first two films has been heavily diluted and a live-action framing device featuring Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan as the owner of a mystical shop feels like an obvious stylistic conceit.

Polished one-liners are disappointingly thin on the brick-plated ground and vocal performances fail to elevate the material above the parapet of mediocrity.

A linear quest for a mysterious artefact called The Ultimate, Ultimate Weapon provides a flimsy hook for the toybox tomfoolery, and should hold the attention of very young audiences who are already familiar with the lucrative Ninjago brand.

(7) In the New Forest...

CHOOSE from 80 expert-led walks through beautiful autumn landscapes at the New Forest Walking Festival 2017, which gets under way tomorrow. The experts will help you discover more about the history, heritage and wildlife of the Forest.

The walking festival includes dozens of behind the scenes family strolls, history hikes, wildlife walks and more. All walks are expert-led by the New Forest National Park Authority and partner organisations.

Led by the New Forest National Park Authority and partner organisations, the Walking Festival is the perfect opportunity to discover more about the National Park, with guidance from friendly and knowledgeable walk leaders to help walkers of all ages unlock the secrets of the Forest.
