A HAMPSHIRE farm has joined the stampede to sponsor Marwell Zoo’s Zany Zebras.
Hot on the hooves of discovering the Go! Rhinos sculpture trail in 2013, Pickwell Farm is sponsoring one of Marwell Wildlife’s new sculptural zebras.
The small family business, based in Netley, has been growing fruit and vegetables for 50 years and is renowned for its ‘pick your own’ strawberries.
Now it is continuing branching out into arts and crafts by throwing its support behind the Daily Echobacked trail.
The farm’s involvement comes as the firm celebrates the 30th anniversary of its farm shop.
Partner Andrew Draper said: “Our family had such an amazing time discovering the rhinos on the Go! Rhinos trail that we just had to be involved when we heard it was happening again.”
Marwell Zany Zebras project manager Kirstie Mathieson said she was delighted at Pickwell Farm’s involvement and added: “We look forward to working with them and raising their profile to the region in this unique and creative way.”
Businesses sponsor a Zany Zebra with their own bespoke design created by Hampshire artists.
Schools too can get involved by decorating their own zebra as part of the trail, which will be in the city for ten weeks.
The zebras will later be auctioned off to raise money for conservation work in northern Kenya.
