THE PSP Southampton Boat Show has announced its charity partners for 2013.
The show, which attracted 110,000 people last year, will support the Teenage Cancer Trust, maritime charity The Rona Sailing Project and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The money raised for the teenage cancer trust will go to help build the first specialist cancer trust unit for young patients in the South of England at Southampton General Hospital.
The Rona Sailing Project was chosen because of its work to ensure no young person is excluded from taking part in sailing, on the grounds of cost.
The National Charity chosen was Macmillan Cancer Support. They aim to improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer and ensure that no one faces it alone.
The Managing Director of National Boat Shows, Murray Ellis, explained why these charities were chosen.
He said: “National Boat Shows is thrilled to be supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust through the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2013, so that together we can make a real difference right here in Southampton.
“Furthermore, The Rona Sailing Project is an inspirational charity, building the confidence of young people from all backgrounds through sailing.
“We are happy to be contributing to the work of one of the oldest Sail Training organisations in the UK. “
