SMITH Annie Aged 97, of Hutchesontown, Glasgow, passed away at West Cliff Hall, Hythe on 23rd July 2023 of natural causes. Our beloved mother is survived by her daughters, Christine, 70, Angela, 75 and her son John, 64. Annie joined the WRENS after leaving school in her hometown Glasgow. She then left Glasgow at the end of the Second World War and came to live in Southampton where she became the wife of Albert. She was an active member of society, and never retired until the age of 92. She was an earnest art and crafts participant and supported her family from a young age with beautifully knitted garments and sewn clothes. Her real passion in life, however, was her family. She would often return to her hometown Glasgow with her four children Nancy, Angela, Christine and John to visit her own immediate family. She took great pleasure in days out to coastal areas with her daughter Christine, trips to the New Forest with Nancy, teaching Angela to sew and make clothes and attending church with both her daughter Angela and her son John. It is here where Annie would spend time with her children and grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at St. Edmund's RC Church, 14 Rockstone Pl, Southampton, SO15 2EQ at 12:30 pm on Wednesday 2nd August 2023.
