A COUPLE from Arizona, USA, have been ordered to pay Nintendo £9.5m in damages for operating two websites which hosted pirated ROMs.
Christian and Jacob Mathias admitted copyright and trademark infringement for running LoveROMS.com and LoveRetro.co which offered versions of games such as Pokemon Yellow, Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country.
The two websites were taken down in July when Nintendo intervened and threatened legal action.
The staggering £9.5m ruling was originally discovered by TorrentFreak.com.
