NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATION FOR A DEVELOPMENT CONSENT ORDER
BY THE PLANNING INSPECTORATE THE PROPOSED NAVITUS BAY WIND PARK
ORDER (APPLICATION REFERENCE EN010024)


Notice is hereby given that the Planning Inspectorate (on behalf of the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change) has accepted an application made by Navitus Bay Development Limited (the Applicant) of 1 Kingmaker Court Warwick Technology Park, Warwick CV34 6WG for a Development Consent Order under the Planning Act 2008 (the Application). The Application was made on 10 April 2014 and accepted on 8 May 2014 (reference: EN010024).

The Application relates to the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm off the Dorset and Hampshire coast to the west of the Isle of Wight (the Project). The proposed wind farm will cover an offshore turbine area of approximately 153 km2 and will connect to the National Grid transmission system via underground cables to a substation at Mannington in Dorset. The Applicant will construct a new onshore substation at Three Legged Cross, north of Ferndown, East Dorset

The Development Consent Order would, amongst other things, authorise:

1. Offshore wind turbines and foundations {up to 194 wind turbines to provide an installed capacity of up to 970 megawatts (MW)).

2. Up to one meteorological mast.

3. Up to three offshore substation platforms.

4 Undersea cables between the wind turbines, meteorological mast and offshore substation platforms.
5. Offshore undersea export cables to transmit electricity from the offshore substation platforms to the shore.

6. A landfall located at the Taddiford Gap between Barton-on-Sea and Milford-on-Sea with onshore transition pits to connect the offshore and onshore cables.

7. Up to six sets of onshore underground cables with jointing pits, extending approximately 35 km, to transmit electricity to a new onshore substation.

8. An onshore substation at Three Legged Cross in the vicinity of the existing National Grid substation at Mannington, Dorset and underground cables to connect the offshore wind farm to the National Grid transmission system.

9. The permanent compulsory acquisition of Land and/or rights for the Project where required.

10. Overriding of easements and other rights over or affecting land for the Project

11. The application and/or disapplication of legislation relevant to the Project including inter alia Legislation relating to compulsory purchase.

12. Such ancillary, incidental and consequential provisions, permits or consents as are necessary and/or convenient

The proposed works are EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) development for the purposes of the Infrastructure Planning Regulations 2009 and accordingly an Environmental Statement accompanied the Application.

A copy of the Application form and accompanying plans, maps and other documents may be inspected free of charge throughout the period for submission of representations in response to this notice (13 May 2014 to 23 June 2014) at the following Locations and during the hours set out below:

The Planning Inspectorate encourages registration online but where this is not possible paper copies of the Registered and Relevant Representation Form can be obtained from the Planning Inspectorate by telephoning 0303 444 5000. Once completed, paper copy Registered and Relevant Representation Forms should be sent to the Planning Inspectorate (National Infrastructure Directorate), Temple Quay House, Temple Quay, Bristol BSl 6PN. The Planning Inspectorate reference for the Project should be quoted in any correspondence, which is EN010024.

Any representation or response must be received by the Planning Inspectorate by 23 June 2014.
