IT WAS interesting to read the recent letter from Richard A Jacob regarding tourists. I agree with his remarks about the council doing nothing (still ) to promote the city. I should imagine that the tourists wonderful memories of our large city is the fact that there aren't any public toilets. This is disgraceful and should be addressed immediately. Perhaps, instead of blaming Tory cuts for closing them as a councillor explained to me!) the council could stop spending millions of our pounds on useless white elephants such as the "Cultural Quarter".
If the council were to charge at least 20p a visit for the desperately-needed conveniences (pun intended), think how much extra cash they could have to spend on the students.
