IT WAS a delight to run with so many people running through Southampton on Sunday on the various length of runs ranging from 10k to a full marathon.

What was also a delight was to see the roads blocked off to polluting cars. Air pollution is a big problem in Southampton. The air actually smelled slightly cleaner.

Other cities such as Bristol where the Greens have made a big difference on the council, have a car-free Sunday once a month.

What a great idea this would be for the people of Southampton to go out once a month, knowing that we are not going breathe in exhaust fumes from cars.

Come on Southampton – let's show a bit of imagination and help the city to breathe clean air.
