I feel I must respond to Carol Carter regards a park-and-ride system in Southampton that appeared in “letters” section of the Daily Echo on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

The simple answer is Southampton will never have a park-and-ride scheme because it would lose vast sums of money which parking in the city generates, the knock on effect, it would also lose revenue from fines imposed on illegal parking.

We have such a backward thinking council whose aim in later was to build offices and developments which nobody wanted, think Ocean Village, the Bargate Centre, and how many units are empty in the Marlands Centre?

I rest my case.
