The most important issue facing mankind today is solving the huge humanitarian and environmental crisis.

No doubt a lot of the wars being waged in the Middle East are creating so much unnecessary suffering for its people.

I understand half a million poor souls have lost their lives in Syria - and the war is still going on.

In Yemen people are suffering the same fate, and to know that our government agreed to supply arms to the Saudi Arabian government is shameful.

Watching the TV news of families cowering in fear as bombs rained down around them was heartbreaking. Dubious regimes like Saudi Arabia (with its appalling human rights record) should be the last country to do business with.

As the world continues to change at an alarming rate we can see how our actions are affecting our planet in a negative way.

The Paris climate agreement took years of dedication from committed people only to be abandoned by Mr Trump. His selfish attitude to anything or anyone who doesn't agree with him only makes matters worse.

I am sure our younger generation want to grow up in a cleaner world, free from pollution, war, greed, and corruption.

The environmental problems we are facing are a serious cause for concern. The dumping of millions of tons of plastic into oceans is creating an environmental disaster for ourselves and our marine life.

One can see the results daily of climate change on the TV news - forest fires, earthquakes, record temperatures, flooding and lastly the coldest year in history in the USA.

I believe the solution in addressing these problems is to act now. If we could create a global mission and use our vast resources of wealth, talent, energy and ideas then we could all feel positive in turning things around.

Finally, it was watching David Attenborough's Blue Planet which made me realise how lucky we all are to live on this incredible planet.

The sheer beauty of the oceans and marine life made a real impression on me.

I do hope we can finally see some real positive change in the world. We need it.
